After three years of playing disc golf and following a ketogenic diet, losing over 80 pounds and getting quite fit and healthy in the process, knee problems forced me to look for a new sport to remain active. Road cycling caught my interest and I bought an inexpensive used Specialized Allez off of Craigslist in the spring of 2014 to try it out. I was quickly hooked and enjoyed riding the flat roads of northeast Kansas for the next couple of months, slowly expanding my distance as I gained confidence and fitness.

Then my wife, who works for the National Park Service, transferred to Yosemite National Park in the summer of 2014 and my cycling world changed from flat-but-windy to the constant climbing of the Sierra Nevada foothills.

Since the move my passion for cycling has only increased. I decided to develop this blog and my associated social media sites to share my passion, adventures and meager insights with others who share my obsession.
